Week 2 Content – Self Assessment (Personality, Values, Interests & Attributes)
Career Magnifier Career Assessment Tool
This week we commence the first part of our self-assessment using the Career Magnifier Assessment Tool (Exercise 1) to assess your personality type, interests and values to determine your ‘best fit’ career.
The coaching call at the end of the week will focus on the results of this assessment so it is important that you complete the assessment by Wednesday close of business so that the assessment can be returned to you by Friday. The assessment should only take 30-40 mins and we suggest that you take it in a relaxed environment and answer how you would in your most natural environment (not necessarily at work). Try not to over-analyse and choose the answer that comes to you fastest.
The Attributes Exercise
Attributes are personal traits or qualities that can’t be learned. Usually, we just have them or we don’t.
The Attributes Exercise (Exercise 2) is designed to get you thinking about how others would describe you and how you might describe yourself in non-work words. You will be able to use some of these when developing your Resume and LinkedIn Profile later in the course.
The Year-Off Exercise
This exercise is to open your mind to possibilities. What on earth would you do with your time if you had a year off that was fully paid? How would you spend your time? Who would you hang out with? Where would you be?
Although this may seem totally unrealistic, I encourage you to open your mind to the possibilities and keep the inner critic in it’s box.
