We have been meeting with many candidates keen to explore career within IT. This article written by guest writer, Andrew Morris, provides a great insight into the 5 most in-demand IT jobs in Australia right now.

Technology is the hot spot in today’s employment market. The IT industry is in the middle of a five-year growth cycle, as projected by the Australian Government, and there is a projected 14.2%1increase in the demand for IT appointments over this period[1].

Technology professionals with the right set of qualifications have a lot of options in the current employment market and salaries are on the rise in many areas of technology due to the strong demand for highly skilled IT specialists. Big Data, cloud and mobile technology continue to dominate the IT market, with businesses actively seeking skilled and experienced IT professionals to support innovation and sustain business growth.

Several industries including mining/mining services, aged care, not-for-profit and education, operations, security, and business transformation are fuelling this demand for IT professionals in a part- and full-time capacity.

However, the demand for skilled talent is now more acute than ever, with Robert Half research revealing that almost nine in 10 (87%) CIOs say it is more challenging to attract qualified IT professionals to their organisation compared to five years ago. As top IT talent becomes more highly sought-after in Australia’s tightening IT talent pool, companies are required to offer competitive salaries in order to successfully attract, recruit and retain the most skilled and talented candidates.

New independent research commissioned by specialised recruiter Robert Half and published in the 2019 Robert Half Salary Guide reveals the top 5 in demand IT jobs in Australia:
