Tips for Changing Career in 2018

If you are thinking about a career change in 2018, then now is the time to start planning for your next career move.

A successful career change doesn’t generally happen quickly.  It is more like an expedition than a day trip.  It requires preparation, planning and a support team to walk beside you each step of the way.  There will be highlights, disappointments and many ups and downs along the way.

Career change doesn’t usually come about in a ‘lightbulb’ moment.  Instead it is like a never-ending ‘to do’ list of small action steps that you need to complete to get to your end goal.  It is researching online, reading careers books, listening to career podcasts, searching for people on LinkedIn, sending cold email introductions, making cold calls (ouch), drafting and re-drafting your resume over and over again, writing and practising an ‘elevator pitch’, articulating your key skills, getting in touch with your strengths and much more.
